Miraculous Creosote Bush
The Amazing Creosote Bush
The Creosote Bush (Larrea tridentata, aka greasewood, aka chapparal, aka hediondilla) is one of the most iconic and prolific plants in the Sonoran Desert.
If you've ever been in the Sonoran Desert after a monsoon rain, you'll recognize the familiar, enchanting smell of the Creosote Bush. The unique smell of the Sonoran after a rain instantly heightens senses and uplifts spirits and comes mainly from the many oils present in the Creosote Bush, especially after a rain--terpene (a compound found in pines), limonene (citrus), camphor (pines and rosemary) and methanol (wood alcohol), to name a few.
For thousands of years, inhabitants of the Southwest have relied on the Creosote Bush to treat a range of internal and external ailments.
When applied directly to skin as a balm, Creosote's antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal properties help quickly soothe and heal insect bites, rashes, cuts, scrapes and burns. Creosote balm is also very effective in improving dry skin, eczema and psoriasis.
Creosote's anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties make it effective for rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis and general muscle and joint aches and pains.
We have a number of Creosote products including balms, bath & body oils, and beard oils, all made with 100% wild-harvested Sonoran Creosote. Check our Products page.
