Prickly Pear Syrup Margaritas!

It's prickly pear season, and we're getting creative on the farm whipping up some delicious margaritas featuring our new Prickly Pear Cactus Syrup. Try out our Prickly Pear Margarita and let us know what you think!

Javelina's Delight: Prickly Pear Margarita Recipe

Ingredients (makes 2 normal or one grande): 

  • 4 oz blanco or silver tequila (we like Dulce Vida organic blanco)
  • 2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz prickly pear cactus syrup
  • 1 oz Grand Marnier (or Cointreau or triple sec)
  • Lime wedges
  • Ice
  • Coarse salt, if desired
Directions:
  • For a salted rim, rub the rib of your glass with a lime wedge and dip glass in a plate of coarse salt 
  • Fill two glasses with ice cubes
  • Combine tequila, lime juice, prickly pear syrup and Grand Marnier in a shaker with ice, shake well 
  • Strain mixture into glasses
  • Garnish with a lime wedge
We like to leave the Grand Marnier out until the end and pour it on top for a Grand Marnier float!
For an even sweeter concoction, use half lime and half fresh orange juice.
Quadruple the ingredients for a pitcher of deliciousness.
